GUJRANWALA Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan Monday invited PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif to contest the National Assembly by-election and said if he was scared, he should opt for the Punjab Assembly, as the PPP would not field candidate against him. It would strengthen democracy in the country and end the midterm election hoaxes, he added. Addressing a gathering of the PPP and the Peoples Lawyers Forum (PLF), he accused the PML-N of generating fake degree scam seemed so as to use the midterm elections card. Babar said, Article 270-B of the Constitution should be consulted before demanding the midterm polls. Everyone should remain aware of the fact that the general elections will be held after completion of our tenure and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be the in-charge of our next election campaign. He said the people having no courage to talk about a military dictator who remained a president or those who had designated a 'Homoeopathic President and worked under the umbrella of a military dictator should not make objections to a political president. He urged Nawaz to stay away from the group of four so that the democracy in the country could be more strengthened. He said, The PPP had sacrificed more lives than any other in the country and the time has come to provide relief to the masses. He also said that the PPP would follow the Chartered of Democracy in the by-polls at Gujranwala, Bahawalpur and Lodhran. He regretted that the handcuffing the employees of public sector was being labelled as good governance in Punjab and said good governance meant to bring the public and the bureaucracy to yield better results. Senior Provincial Minister Raja Muhammad Riaz, Lala Muhammad Idrees, Ch Muhammad Tariq Gujjar MPA, Mian Arqam Khan MPA, Malik Mushtaq Ahmad Awan, President PLF Khurshid Ahmad Sodhi and others also addressed at the meeting.
