ISLAMABAD (APP) - NA Standing Committee on Food and Agriculture has advised ZTBL to furnish province-wise disbursement of loans and recovery position, details of write off loans since 1985 and mega projects. The meeting, which was chaired by Javed Iqbal Warriach, MNA, proposed to review insurance policy for farmers, said a press release. The committee advised to furnish details of the break-up of income from insurance, amount paid to insurance companies and insurance claim paid to the farmers. The committee expressed dissatisfaction on the briefing of ZTBL. It regretted that no practical work on Benazir Credit Card and Benazir Tractor scheme of Rs. 72.00 billion to provide easy credit facility to 3.8 million farmers, which were announced in 2009 by ZTBL, had been done so far. The committee advised the ZTBL to streamline and simplify revolving loan procedure. Loans should be accessible to farmers. The list of model village should be provided to the members of the Committee. The Committee will held a separate meeting on high efficiency irrigation system, crop maximization programme, increase in crop yield, energy projects, hybrid seed, embryo transplant technology and wing energy and wind monitor its viability. Regarding shifting of staff of PARC labs from Karachi to interior Sindh, the Convener of the Sub-Committee informed that as PARC has not supplied required information, therefore so far meeting could not be held. The Ministry of Food and Agriculture directed Chairman PARC to respond within one week after issuance of instruction by Ministry of Food and Agriculture/ Standing Committee on Food & Agriculture. The Committee expressed dissatisfaction on the current action of Chairman PARC against Scientist of Karachi and recalled that during visit of 3-4th February at Karachi, Chairman PARC appreciated the work of labs and now he was criticizing them.
