KARACHI - The Association of Builders & Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) has welcomed the announcement of Sindh government about the operation against the land mafia and has said it is heartening to note that a Committee comprising of ABAD and the three Allied parties has been set up to oversee the operation. Vice Chairman of ABAD, Muhammad Arif Siddique, and Regional Chairman Saleem Qasim on Monday said in a statement that it was encouraging to note that Pakistan Peoples Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Awami National Party, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Sindh Ishratul Ebad, took a unanimous decision of an impartial crackdown against land mafia groups in order to get the encroached lands vacated. This action on the part of government will reactivate the economy which will have positive impact on the province. They said ABAD, in the meeting held on July 6, has brought to the governments notice the issues concerning the activities of land mafia groups on the private land belonging to the members of ABAD. They said that if their proposals are implemented in letter and spirit, the construction activities in Karachi will gear up thus providing employment opportunities to the people of Karachi.
