ISLAMABAD Refuting the claim of Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik that it was Mian Nawaz Sharif who had floated the idea of minus-one (Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry) formula for the restoration of judges, the leaders of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) termed the statement of the minister as a big lie. Reacting to the claim of Interior Minister Rehman Malik PML(N), the central leader Siddiqul Farooq said that he(Rehman Malik) was a person with negative credibility and all what he had claimed was baseless and unfounded. He further said that actually it was Pakistan Peoples Partys leadership which had come up with the proposal of minus-one formula for the restoration of judges of Supreme Court of Pakistan, while Mian Nawaz Sharif had rejected it and made it clear to President Asif Ali Zardari at Bhurban that he wanted the restoration of all the judges including Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry through an executive order. PML(N) leaders said that they had never thought of the restoration of judges sans Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and in the meetings held following the Bhurban Accord signed by Mian Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, PML(N) had demanded the restoration of the judges through an executive order while it was PPP leadership which had come up with the new proposals every time they sat across the table for negotiations on restoration of apex court judges sans Iftihkhar Mohammad Chaudhry. The PML(N) leaders recalling the restoration saga of judges of apex court said that it was the force of the masses lead by PML(N) Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif that had forced the PPP-led coalition government to restore the judges of the apex court through an executive order while PPP leadership was in no mood at all to restore the judges. These leaders said that the PPP leaders including President Asif Ali Zardari, who was also party Co-Chairman, had on record said that the judges could not be restored through an executive order and listed a number of legal and constitutional hurdles in that regard.
