The Supreme Court adjourned hearing of the petitions challenging certain clauses of the 18th Amendment on Tuesday, report said. Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday in his remarks said the courts accorded temporary endorsement to the martial law rule, while the political parties provided permanent protection to it. A 17-judge full court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry was hearing the case. During the hearing, Abdul Hafeez Pirzada started his arguments in which he severely criticized the role of the political parties and the judiciary during the past military governments in the country. Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday questioned whether the political parties not endorsed the martial law through the 8th and 17th amendment of the constitution?
