Rs15 billion needed immediately: AJK PM

SIALKOT - Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan has said that there was immediate need of Rs15 billion for the completion of mega project of upgrading of Mangla Dam and the upgradation work should be completed as earliest possible because cost of the project is increase day by day. Talking to reporters at a local hotel here on Monday evening, he said the completion of upgrading of the dam would not only help in generating 500 megawatts electricity but also provide sufficient water which would help Pakistan in overcoming the shortage of water and power. Raja Farooq further said that there are 60,000 affected persons of upgrading of Mangla dam which are waiting for compensation adding that Pakistan government should take adequate steps for resolving the issue to facilitate affected persons. The AJK Prime Minister further disclosed that Rs.27 billion are required for the completion of rehabilitation work in earthquake hit areas adding that more than 80 percent development work had so far been completed in rural areas of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Special attention has been accorded on the construction schools, colleges, hospitals and roads and pace of development work has been further accelerated, he added. Raja Farooq Haider said though AJK was not the member of NFC but its due share should be given to it and Pakistan government consider on this issue. The AJK Prime Minister urged upon the Indian leadership to take bold step for resolving the long standing Kashmir issue for maintaining peace in the region permanently. The further delay in resolving the Kashmir issue would be dangerous for the integrity of India and it high time that Indian leadership should adopt rational approach for resolving the Kashmir issue, he said. The AJK Prime Minister said that Indian Army Chief had confessed the failure in held Kashmir but on the other hand the state terrorism was at its peak as result of which killing of innocent Kashmiris had become order of the day. Pakistan government should take up the issue state terrorism with Indian leaders during Pakistan-India dialogues for the stoppage of killing of innocent Kashmiris in held state, he added. Earlier, the AJK Prime also addressed the party workers and refugees settled in Sialkot.
