ISLAMABAD (Online) President Asif Ali Zardari Monday vowed to foil all conspiracies to destabilise the democratic system and said the resolution against the media should not have been tabled in the Punjab Assembly. He expressed these views while talking to Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer who called on him at the Presidency. Matters relating to law and order situation, development projects in the province and overall political scenario in the country came under discussion during the meeting. According to sources, President Zardari said the democratic govt believed in freedom of the press and the process of tabling a resolution against the media in the Punjab Assembly was incorrect as it could lead to confrontation, adding that despite the continuous criticism faced by the PPP, the party respected the media. The president said the perpetrators of Data Darbar attack would be brought to justice. We would never allow the plans to provoke sectarianism to be successful, Zardari said, adding that all measures would be taken to ensure safety of the people. He also reiterated govts commitment to utilise all possible resources to enhance the capabilities of the law enforcing agencies.
