Pakistan on development path, says PM

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said that his government has put the country on track to attain durable peace, sustainable economic growth and massive infrastructure development.

The prime minister stated this in a meeting with a delegation led by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairman of Warid Telecom International and chairman of the Abu Dhabi Group, Union National Bank, and United Bank Limited which called on him at Raiwind yesterday.

Other delegates included Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of VimpelCom Ltd, Mobilink, Alfalah Bank and members Board of Directors Abu Dhabi Group.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan extended his heartfelt congratulations on the successful surgery and consequent recovery of the Prime Minister. Appreciating the leadership role of the Prime Minister, the Prince said that Pakistan has shown tremendous improvement in almost all sectors of the economy over the last three years.

He further said that Pakistan is fast becoming an ideal destination for foreign investors owing to the transparent, fair and incentives based investment policies of the present government. “Your leadership has enabled Pakistan to witness rapid economic growth and attract foreign investments. You have greatly helped your country achieve its true image worldwide”, added Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said his government made the obvious choices of putting the country on track to attain durable peace, sustainable economic growth and massive infrastructure development.

“We started the Karachi operation in consultation with all stakeholders which helped a great deal in restoration of peace to the mega city. To wipe out the menace of terrorism from our soil, we launched operating Zar-i-Azb and we are fully satisfied with the successes made in this regard”, emphasized the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister further said that his government has managed to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the industrial sector and will altogether remove the curse of energy deficiency and load-shedding from the country by 2018.

“The transparent agreements in LNG will remove the gas shortage from Pakistan by next year. We made Motorways in 1990’s and with the grace of Almighty Allah presently 13 different Motorways are under construction in the country with an investment of Rs. 900 billion. This investment will cross Rs. 1 trillion by the end of this year”, said the Prime Minister.

He emphasized that he is personally overseeing the progress of crucially significant China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project of $34 billion. “The project will connect the entire region through construction of quality road networks and railway tracks. This project alone has the potential to change the lives of Millions of people living in the region”, added the Prime Minister.
