LAHORE: Police has started investigation into the incident in which arms of a 25-year-old Christian young man Aqeel Masih were cut off by unknown persons. Police claims the hands up to elbow were cut off in an accident when a train passed over them.  

The incident reportedly took place on June 24. On July 12 police registered a case (FIR 689/16) on the complaint of Aqeel Masih, son of Inayat Masih, at Ghalib Market Police Station. Aqeel is resident of 295A, Shah Jamal Town, Walton Road.

Model Town Superintendent of Police (SP) Amara Ather told The Nation that Police have arrested the three suspects on the information provided by the Aqeel but so far in the investigation no substantial evidence as to how the incident took place. 

She said Aqil Masih Medico-Legal Case (MLC) is underway in a hospital and the report has yet to be produced before the police.

“We have yet to testify the claim of Aqil that he was facing threat to his life. We believe his hands were chopped off in a train accident,” she said. 

According to police sources the complainant Aqil Masih is addict who due to drug overdose went near the train which chopped off his hand.
