LONDON - Begum Kalsoom Nawaz, the wife of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has regained consciousness, Hussain Nawaz confirmed on Thursday.
Talking to media in London, Hussain Nawaz said, “Today my mother opened her eyes first time after a month. She looked around after opening her eyes.”
“For some time her ventilator settings and sedatives were being reduced,” he added.
“She is still unconscious. Blinked her eyes and don’t know she saw us or not. Prayers requested,” tweeted daughter Maryam Nawaz.
Begum Kalsoom had been unconscious and in critical condition after she suffered a cardiac arrest last month. She is being treated at the Harley Street Clinic in London.
In August 2017, Kalsoom Nawaz was diagnosed with lymphoma (throat) cancer and has undergone several chemotherapy sessions.
