LAHORE - Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has said that ongoing energy and electricity crisis is all due to mismanagement and flawed planning of the incumbent government.
Addressing a press conference at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Secretariat Model Town on Monday, he claimed that Nawaz Sharif-led government made the country load shedding-free during its five-year term.
“We inherited 20 hours long loadshedging. Our government successfully gave a load shedding-free Pakistan in 2018,” the PML-N President said.
Flanked by former finance minister Miftah Ismail, PML-N deputy secretary general Attaullah Tarar and Punjab’s information secretary Azma Bukhari, he said that the nation could not be served by pushing the party to the wall.
“We are being targeted for giving cheap transport, free medicines, laptops and health cards to the people,” he said, adding, the PML-N leadership was jailed in fake cases for serving the nation and putting the country on path of progress and development. “Not a single penny corruption could be proved against me, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khawaja Asif and Ahsan Iqbal,” he claimed. Shehbaz kept his focus on the electricity shortage in the country and the power plants that were set up during the tenure of PML-N and avoided mentioning AJK electioneering and war of words against the PPP.
Ex Chief Minister said that the PML-N government had installed four power plants in Bhikki, Haveli Bahadur Shah, Baluki and Trimmu. “Not a single penny corruption has been proved in our power plants and these are the cheapest in the world”, he said, adding, that these power plants had helped save Rs250 billion of the nation. “The Neelum-Jhelum power project was completed by the PML-N government after a 20-year long delay at a cost of $5 billion while its initial cost was $800 million,” he said.
