LAHORE - Top seeds advanced to the next round of the New Khan Punjab Open Tennis Championship 2021 after winning their respective matches here at the PLTA Courts on Monday.
In the men’s singles pre-quarterfinals, Muhammad Abid played well against Fayyaz Khan and overpowered him with a score of 8-2. Muzamil Murtaza was also in good form and outlasted Shaeel Durab 8-2 while Imran Bhatti of Lahore Gymkhana outclassed Ahmad Moed 8-0, Mudassar Murtaza defeated Sikandar Hayat 8-4, Irfan Mughal routed Ifham Rana 8-5, Nalain Abbas toppled Zain ul Abideen 8-1, seasoned campaigner Heera Ashiq thrashed Hamza Jawad 8-0 and Hassan Riaz trounced Jabir Ali 8-1.
In the men’s doubles pre-quarterfinals, Muzamil Murtaza/Mudassar Murtaza overwhelmed the pair of Kamran Qureshi and Waqas Basit 8-2, Muhammad Abid/Heera Ashiq overcame the duo of Ifham Rana and Zain Ul Abideen 8-4 and Irfan Mughal/Hassan Shaukat defeated Zeeshan Ashraf and Amjad 8-4.
In the boys U-18 pre-quarterfinals, Ahtesham Arif was up against Rayan Omer and beat him 8-5 while Munjeeb Majeed routed M Sohaan Noor 8-4, Hamza Jawad outlasted Abubakar Khalil 8-4 and Aized Khalil troucned Rayan Malik 8-1. In the boys/girls U-12 pre-quarterfinals, Abdul Basit crushed Inam Bari 8-0, Eesa Bilal defeated Fajar Fayyaz 8-5, Abdur Rehman (AAA Associated) thrashed Talha Tarar 8-0 and Hajra Sohail (AAA Associates) outpaced Aalay Husnain 8-3.
