Gen (Retd) Rashid Qureshi, in one of his recent interviews, mentioned that Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf gave jobs to some retired generals including Jamshed Gulzar Kiyani and Gen (Retd) Abdul Qayyum because Musharraf is a 'kind' man. He also said that Prime minister later removed these senior army officers from their jobs because they were incompetent. It leads me to conclude that many incompetent army officers become generals. I want to ask Mr. Rashid Qureshi to tell the nation how many of these incompetent senior army officers have been obliged by Pervez Musharraf and is he himself also one of them?AMER FAROOQI, Lahore, via e-mail, June 9.
