OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Following special directives by DIG Operations Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, the City police have picked more than 400 suspected persons from different areas of the provincial capital. According to spokesman of operational wing, out of total figure about 150 persons have been identified as illegal smugglers of fire weapons resultantly the police have lodged FIRs against them. The special crackdown was launched in Shahdara, Manawan, Hadyara, Batapur, Burki, Kahna, Raiwind City, Satukatla, Chung, Hanjerwal, Gulshan Iqbal, Sherakot, Nawankot, Gulshan Ravi and inside areas of the City on Sunday. During the operation, special raids were carried on brothels, guesthouses, hotels and bus terminals. The spokesman further said dozens among them were released after the police concerned were satisfied with their identity. Similarly, police have nabbed 28 proclaimed offenders, 13 court absconders, 48 history-sheeters, 25 weapon smugglers, 30 drugs peddlers while the police have also recovered 15 rifles, 20 pistols, eight kilogram charas, 2kg opium, 100 bottles of liquors, from their possession. The DIG Operations has said the criminals would be dealt with iron hands.
