ISLAMABAD - Left-handed batting wizard Sajid Ali Sr hit unbeaten 89 to help Diamond to win BSB-ICA Super Cricket League, 2011, as they defeated BSB by 5 wickets in the final at Diamond Ground on Sunday. Chief guest Maj (Retd) M Pervaiz, the chief guest, handed the trophy to Diamond's Captain Zohaib Ahmed. Sajid Ali played one of his best innings to give Diamond a thumping 5-wicket victory against BSB team. BSB sensed victory at one time but Sajid Ali stood firm at crease with a determined innings of 87-ball 89 with the help of eight fours and two sixes. He also bowled well and returned with the figures of two for 22. The Diamond-BSB final proved a highly exciting match with both the teams aspiring to win the League plus Rs 25,000 cash award. BSB hit 175 in 33.1 overs, as the match was reduced to 35-overs-a-side due to overnight heavy downpour. Mazhar Abbasi made 58 and Mudassar Ali scored 25 not out. Zohaib Ahmed claimed three for 35, while Sajid Ali had two for 36 and Shahzad Azam Rana chipped in with 2 for 44. Helped by 89 by Sajid Ali, Diamond achieved the target in 32.5 overs. Ameer Khan blasted a 58-ball 55.
