LAHORE - Punjab Labour Minister Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi has asked the trade union representatives to create awareness for the elimination of bonded labour, child labour, exploitation of brick kiln workers and labourers rights. He said that government was giving top priority to eliminate the menace of bonded labour in brick kilns and combating worst forms of child labour from the province. While talking to the delegation of labourers on the eve of World Child Labour Day, Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi said that steps were underway to eradicate these evils and the department was launching extension of elimination of bonded labour in brick kilns projects in eight additional districts. He said that free education including books, stationery, transport and uniform are also being provided to 28 thousand children of workers in 46 workers welfare schools of the province. The minister said workers welfare board was bearing all educational expenses of the children of workers in those six districts of the Punjab where workers welfare schools are not existed. The public awareness campaign may be launched by the NGOs through holding of seminars for the elimination of this curse and the labour department will provide all out cooperation in this regard, he concluded.
