ISLAMABAD - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is likely to take up matter regarding unrest in Karachi due to prolonged standoff between the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) management and worker union for early solution in the National Assembly today (Monday). Senior MQM lawmakers in the National Assembly (NA) will ask for early settlement of the KESC employees, as unrest is prevailing in the city due to it, MQM sources told TheNation. The standoff between the KESC management and workers union, which is going on for more than a month, has become the most pressing issue of Karachi unleashing unrest in the city as well as industrial areas. The matter regarding the unrest, party sources said, was discussed in the party level in length and it was decided to take up matter in the Lower House of the Parliament. Talking to TheNation, senior party leader Wasim Akhtar said that it was matter of great concern and needed to be resolved immediately. Issue is fast becoming political and concerned authorities intervention is need of the hour, the MQM leader said, adding that masses were suffering due to the issue.
