LAHORE - Time has come to get rid of the oppressive system and introduce a system in the light of Uswa-e-Hasna and Meesaq-e-Madina. The nation must get united to crush terrorism and face the elements weakening the country with full might, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Addressing 'Shaheed-e-Pakistan seminar on the occasion of second death anniversary of Mufti Dr Sarfaraz Naeemi at Jamia Naeemia on Sunday, he said that it was need of the hour that a system based on equality and justice should be enforced in the country by getting resources from the few people to provide health, education and other facilities to the masses to eliminate terrorism from its roots. Prominent guests on the occasion include Majid Nizami, Editor-in-Chief TheNation, member parliament South Africa and a former student of Jamia Naeemia, Pir Syed Rafiq Hussain Shah, Dr Aamir Liaqat Hussain, Sohail Warraich, while members of national and provincial assembly, ulema, mashaikh, intellectuals and a large number of students were also present. Shahbaz while saying that country was passing through difficult times especially in the context of terrorism asked the ulema to come forward at this critical juncture for the solidarity and survival of the country and play their due role for promoting national unity. The CM offered his all out services for strengthening and survival of Pakistan. He said that innocent Pakistanis were being killed in the war against terrorism and besides 35,000 civilians, 5,000 officers and jawans of Pak Army and police as well as their children have also embraced martyrdom. He said that it was not the Pakistan envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal and for which millions of lives were sacrificed. We forget Islamic teachings due to which we are facing problems and crises. He said that the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) will have to be adopted for achieving the national objectives. Shahbaz said that to make Pakistan citadel of Islam foreign assistance would have to be turned down, which was soaked in the blood of Pakistanis and compromise national honour and dignity. He said that no patriotic Pakistani could accept foreign assistance at the cost of national honour and lives of innocent citizens. He said that foreign assistance never brings prosperity and local resources would have to be developed while austerity will have to be promoted for moving forward. He said that only the elite had enjoyed foreign aid during the last 63 years and the time had come that they should render sacrifices. Paying tributes to Dr Sarfaraz Naeemi, Shahbaz said that he had played an important role for the stability of Pakistan, unity of Muslim Ummah and promotion of Islamic teachings. He said that the void created by the death of Dr Sarfaraz Naeemi could never be filled. He said that he would not rest until the arrest and sentence of murderers of Dr Naeemi. The CM said that the students showing better performance in the modern education in seminaries would also be extended encouragement on the lines of other educational institutions. Shahbaz also announced to regularise the services of daily wage employees working at the mosque under the administrative control of the Auqaf Department on this occasion. Former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that all segments of society especially the ulema should had to ponder upon the serious issue of solidarity of Pakistan, as several maps for a new Pakistan were being discussed among the international community. He said that no foreign policy could succeed without the backing of the masses. Qureshi said that being former minister, he had to listen to tough talk in various countries especially regarding the religious seminaries, however 98 percent of the seminaries were imparting education to the needy, while a small ratio had deviated from its real task. He asked the religious as well as society members to bring the few hardliners to the ranks of the entire society by binding them in the bond of love. Stressing upon the role of ulema for ending extremist tendencies, he said that the forces of dark would impose their point of view on us if the ulema failed to present their point of view at this crucial juncture. Qureshi said that teachings of Islam spread in the sub-continent with the efforts of sufi saints, which used peace, love and equality to spread Islam. He said that it was a fact that Pakistan Movement got a popular support with the support of ulema ahle sunnat under the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam. Paying tributes to Mufti Dr Naeemi, he said that the efforts of Mufti Naeemi would remain a source of benefit for the Muslims till the end of world. Allama Ghulam Muhammad Sialvi, nazim talimaat tanzim-ul-madaris, said that Mufti Naeemi stated a long time ago that there was no need of any armed group in the country in the presence of the army, while the country might not passing through current wave of suicide attacks if somebody listens to the warnings of Mufti Naeemi. Pir Atiq-ur-Rehman, auqaf minister AJK, said that Save Pakistan Convention held in 2009 had shaken the ranks of enemies of the country and that was the reason behind Dr Naeemis martyrdom. Maulana Raghib Hussain Naeemi, nazim-e-alla Jamia Naeemia, in his welcome address said that the people who were talking about the sentiments of vengeance in the result of drone attacks should not ignore the possibilities of reaction of attacks on the shrines of the sufi saints. He questioned the ruling elite what would happen if the ahle sunnat take up arms in response to attacks on them. He asked the concerned quarters for exposing the elements behind the terror nurseries instead of telling the stories of Blackwater and American hand in terror raids. Claiming that political forces and the establishment were backing the extremist elements, he demanded stopping the trend of armed groups in the country. He maintained that some politicians by supporting the 'Sufi Muhammad Brand Islam were bent upon declaring the army as terrorist, which was fighting them in order to save the Pakistanis from more bloodshed. Earlier, the CM offered fateha at the grave of Mufti Naeemi and prayed for the departed soul upon his arrival at Jamia Naemia.
