KASUR - The A-Division Police on Sunday registered a case against two unidentified accused, who shot and injured the TMO and a contractor, on the complaint of Rai Muhammad Javed on Sunday. At DHQ Hospital injured contractor Ikram told the police that cloth merchant of Nia Bazaar Liaquat Ali was one of the accused. When police arrested Liaquat, local parliamentarians, including MNA Sh Waseem and MNA Naeem Safdar Ansari and scores of traders intervened and got Liaquat released from the police custody where Liaquat was under observation. On the other hand, traders including Ch Muhammad Akram Mughal, Zafar Iqbal Khokar and others submitted an application to DSP (City Circle) Muhammad Azam that injured contractor had an old grudge with the trader Liaquat and Liaquat had nothing to do with the incident of firing. The traders also contended that injured contractor was an outlaw and jailbird in cases of corruption and blackmailing in the city. Special 3-day anti-polio drive for nomadic kids: The District Health launched a special three-day campaign of polio vaccination for the children of nomadic families from today (Monday). According to EDO (Health) Dr Saeed Khan, Deputy District Health Officers at Union Council level collected the data in the district level that was 10,253 families having 2,150 children under the age of five years. He added as the nomadic families go on changing their residence, the health officials had also obtained cellphone numbers from most of the families to assure 100 per cent vaccination. 191 vaccination teams in 113 union councils would perform their duty.
