Call for acquiring scientific knowledge

LAHORE - To lead an honorable and prosperous life, it is imperative to acquire the scientific knowledge. Today only those nations are enjoying the fruits of development and power that have not only acquired the scientific knowledge, but also created new knowledge. These ideas and thoughts were expressed by PU VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran in his address as chief guest on the fourth day of the Ideological Summer School at the Aiwan-i-Karkunan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan, jointly organised by the NPT and Pakistan Movement Workers Trust.
Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust Chairman Dr Majid Nizami specially attended the function the other participants included Vice Chairman Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad, Col (r) Ikram Ullah Khan, Dr Ajmal Niazi and Shahid Rasheed.
Dr Kamran observed that the nation needs power and money to gain a prominent position internationally and both these requisites can only be attained through education. “The individuals in today’s developed societies have made hard work and labour a way of life and perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty. The seven and a half hundred verses of the Holy Quran exhort us to ponder over the mysteries of the universe. Even the very first verse deals with knowledge and the pen. The Europeans and American are far ahead of the Muslims as far as the scientific research is concerned. America’s stupendous progress in the fields of science and technology has enabled it to produce GDP 70 times that of Pakistan’s. He remarked that the Pakistani children are the most intelligent of all.”
Given the proper education and training, they can transform our country into the most developed one. He exhorted them to pay special attention to their studies and do PhD, in the subject they had predilection for, because only a Ph.D can create new knowledge and make new inventions. In order to advance in life, a high character is a must. The teachers must concentrate on the character-building of the students. A session of questions and answers was also held and prizes were given away to those who had achieved success in different competition and activities.
