Victory and afterwards

After gaining majority in Punjab and a small presence in KPK and Sindh, the PML-N emerged as a majority party in the National as well as the Punjab assembly. Mian Nawaz Sharif seemed to be a transformed man who had learnt from his past mistakes. Alas, as the saying goes old habits die hard, by showering much praises on people of Punjab for being more prudent than residents of other provinces, he yet again proved to be more of a leader with Provincial mindset than national. He divided the already fragmented society instead of uniting and solidifying it, claims of harmony, stability, and solidarity notwithstanding. It would have been better had he avoided passing judgments about dwellers of other federating units, since during the election campaign his opponents termed him as the monarch of ‘Takht-e-Lahore.’
