While people have been condemning the Taliban attack on Karachi airport, there has been praise for how quickly the army was able to take control of the ambushed area and prevent the Taliban from causing serious damage. This attack has raised grave concerns about the level of security maintained at Pakistan’s busiest and largest airport. The incident will have far-reaching repercussions for foreign travelers, and the desired foreign investment that the Sharif faction are desperate to pull in. It questions the validity and effectiveness of the ‘Peace Talks’, which the government is engaged in with the Taliban. As soon as the talks hit an impasse, the Taliban were swift to avenge their slain leader, accompanied with a promise that more is yet to come.
