KARACHI - Sindh Information and Local Government Minister Sharjeel Memon has said that Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan should review the facts before issuing any statement.

The federal minister gave remarks regarding the Jinnah international airport terrorist’s attack without keeping in view the ground realities, he said. He was talking to the media men at his office here on Thursday.

Pointing out the weak spots in the security plan, Nisar said earlier that the Sindh government ignored the federal government’s recommendations to appoint competent officers instead they assigned the chief secretaries on its own discretion.

Memon said Nisar should focus on halting the arms smuggling from the Punjab. Instead of declaring Taliban as believers of Pakistan constitution, Nisar should take strict measures for elimination of terrorism from the country.

Sharjeel further said the federal government was responsible of the security of airports while IG Sindh and Rangers officials reached the airport just after the attack. The 90 per cent credit of operation against the attackers goes to Sindh police and Rangers personnel who fought on the frontline, he added.

He said at the time of Karachi airport came under attack, the federal interior were enjoying sleep and on second day, he gave statements to the media regarding the attack. Nisar did visit Karachi on the direction of Prime Minister but left the port city after the photo session.

Expressing grief over the death of seven people at airport’s cold storage, he held the civil aviation authorities responsible for the disaster as CAA returned the provincial government machineries declaring that all the sites are cleared. How come the CAA was not aware of missing of their workers, he asked. To a question, Sharjeel said during a year Prime Minister and federal minister avoided giving straight statements against the Taliban. On the other hand, Taliban have declared that they were bearing major losses in the urban region of the Sindh. It is evident the Sindh government is actively working against the network of the Taliban in Sindh especially in Karachi.

To another question, he said in past the federal interior minister had declared Taliban believers of Pakistan constitution and forgot the martyrdom of thousands of innocent civilians and security forces personnel. He said the Sindh government would continue war against the banned outfits and terrorists till elimination of terrorism from the country.

Memon admitted that the federal government has alerted the province about the threat from the terrorists. He said the government’s soft stance towards terrorists was the main hurdle in eradicating terrorism.
