ISLAMABAD- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that a relationship between India and Pakistan defined by peace, friendship and cooperation would unleash enormous opportunities for our youth and prove to be prosperous for our region.

In his reply to the letter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Narendra Modi thanked for his letter of June 2, 2014 and the positive sentiments that he had expressed about his visit to India in May. Modi said he looks forward to working closely with him and his government in an atmosphere free from confrontation and violence in order to chart a new course in bilateral relations.

The Indian leader said he was particularly delighted and honored by Pakistani Prime Minister’s participation in the ceremony for the swearing in of the new government. He said Nawaz Sharif’s presence and that of other leaders from our region, not only added a special zeal to the event, but

also a celebration of the strength of democracy in our region and a reflection of our collective hopes and shared destinies.

The Indian Prime Mnister also condemned in the strongest terms the terrorists attack in Karachi and conveyed his deepest condolences for the loss of innocent lives in this senseless and barbaric attack. Modi also thanked Nawaz Sharif for the sari that he sent for his mother, a gesture that she deeply appreciated.
