ISLAMABAD - Analyst Dr. Rasheed Ahmad Khan has said that the letter sent by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to his Indian counterpart is a positive beginning in Pak-India relations.

Talking in an interview on Radio Pakistan, he said Narendra Modi, after assuming charge as Prime Minister, issued strong statement about Pakistan and China.  Pakistan and China have been making sincere efforts to promote ties with each other, he added.

Another analyst B.A Malik said both the countries are facing challenges, which are hurdle in the sound relations between the two countries.  He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif attended Narendra Modi’s oath-taking ceremony and now wrote a letter to him, both are the steps in the right direction.

Analyst Nazar Abbas said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s letter contains a strong message of Pakistan’s desire to settle all outstanding issues with India in a peaceful manner. Both the leaders will have to take the peace process forward despite the hawks on both the sides, he added.
