PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Maehtab Khan Abbasi, while stressing more integrated efforts to get rid of polio, has said that physical retardation and illness should never be the fate of the children in FATA and we are applying all the available means as per instructions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to ensure safe future of the new generations.
This he stated while talking to the Prime Minister's Focal Person on Polio Eradication and MNA Aisha Raza Farooq who along with her team engaged in this noble service at the Prime Minister's Secretariat, Islamabad called on him at the Governor House, Peshawar on Thursday. 
The Aisha briefed the governor in detail about the ongoing hectic efforts at the federal level to completely wipe out the disease from the country.  Principal Secretary to the Governor Dr Muhammad Fakhar-e-Alam and Secretary Administration and Coordination FATA Secretariat Abid Majeed were also present on this occasion.
The polio decease, the governor said, is not only rendering our children physically handicapped for their entire life but has also become a stigma for us as a nation and now it is causing a serious hardship for our citizens to travel abroad in shape of travelling regulations being imposed in this respect. 
Keeping in view the ground realities, he said, there is a need that all the respective institutions should work in complete unity and get this problem completely wiped out.
The people of FATA, the governor said, are also quite aware of the consequences of the problem and they are determined to protect their children from the disease.  This very fact, he added, is also proving helpful to make the ongoing efforts a complete success.
 "The cooperation from the Pak Army in further supplementing the ongoing measures in this connection is also highly valuable," he said.
