Three suspects killed in ‘gunplay’ with police

FAISALABAD/WAZIRABAD-: Three alleged bandits were gunned down in two shootouts with the police in different areas here on Thursday.
According to details, in Wazirabad, three wanted outlaws were gunned down in a shootout with the Gakkhar Police here on Ojla Canal Road near village Kot Yousuf early in Thursday morning.
According to details, Gakkhar Mandi Police SHO Malik Samiullah was tipped off that robbers had set up a picket on Ojla Canal Road near village Kot Yousuf. Acting on the information, the SHO along with police contingents rushed to the spot and laid siege to the outlaws. The SHO also informed the Wazirabad DSP about the siege after which police personnel from other police stations of the tehsil also reached to assist the Gakkhar Police. In the meanwhile a shootout erupted and the exchange of intense firing continued between the police and the outlaws for more than an hour. Resultantly, all the three outlaws including Shakeel alias Billa and Ansar, residents of Kashmir Colony near Gujranwala Cantt and Awais were killed.  Later, the police took the dead bodies of the outlaws to the Gakkhar Mandi police station and then shifted to Gujranwala. According to the SHO, Shakeel and his accomplices had gunned down a trader in Gujranwala and a passer-by was also killed the occurrence. He claimed that almost 40 cases of heinous crime including murder, robbery, extortion and land grabbing were register against the outlaws in various police station of Gujranwala district, adding that currently the outlaws were residing in Shahdara Lahore.  
In Faisalabad, a bandit was killed in an alleged shootout with the police on ABC Road the other night. As per police sources, a citizen Afzal informed the police that two armed bandits after looting cash, cellphone and other valuables from him had escaped towards ABC Road. Acting on the tip-off, the police patrol on ABC Road attempted to intercept the outlaws.
However, the outlaws opened fire on police party and managed to escape. Meanwhile, the Gulberg Police SHO on information followed the outlaws. The outlaws opened indiscriminate fire which the police retaliated. However, during the crossfire one of the armed bandits was critically injured and subsequently arrested by the police who later died in the hospital while his accomplice made good his escape from the scene. According to the police identity of the deceased bandit could not be ascertained yet.
