KARACHI: Two al-Qaeda militants identified as Abdul Basit and Muhammad Nauman , arrested recently have said that they had planned major terror attack in Karachi which was foiled by police personnel.

Investigation officer on Monday said that the alleged arrested Al-Qaeda terrorists received training from Afghanistan’s Gomal district.

The officers told that the detainees are expert in using heavy weapons and bomb making.

The terrorists have also claimed of killing security officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) while they also confessed to have attacked Afghan Army’s camp on the occasion of Eid.

Police prepared a report after recording the statements of the suspects in which it was also mentioned that the Al-Qaeda members have also carried out sectarian killings in Karachi.

It is pertinent to mention here that the terrorists were apprehended from Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal 13-D while an anti-aircraft gun, five kilograms of ball bearings, 70 rounds, hand grenades and detonators were also recovered from their possession.
