LARKANA - The federal government has allocated Rs1 billion in the annual budget 2021-22 as part of four different research-based schemes of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) Larkana that will cost Rs1,820 million.
VC Prof Dr Aneela Attaur Rahman has thanked the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and other relevant departments for cooperation in this regard. The schemes include establishment of Advanced Research Centre in Molecular, Genetics and Allied Faculties; Pathological Research Centre, Central Digital Library and a mosque.
Mother of five jumps into Rice Canal
A mother of five children, Kaneez Fatima, wife of Waqar Abro, jumped into the Rice Canal on Saturday with the intention to end her life after she had a quarrel with her son but the people present at the scene saved her life.
Area people, after saving her, informed the policemen who took her into custody and shifted her to women police station where she said that she had a dispute with her son over a domestic issues after which she came out of house and tried to commit suicide by jumping into the Rice Canal but people saved her by getting her out of the water.
Boy dies of burn injuries in at CMCH
A 5-year old boy, Osama, son of Ali Asghar Totani, succumbed to his injuries at the Burns Ward of the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Saturday after remaining there for 20 days for medical treatment. He was resident of Muhammad Bux Totani village located near Kambar. His heirs alleged during a protest demonstration that doctors did not provide required medical treatment and their negligence has cost them the life of an innocent little boy.
Abida Totani, mother of the victim, said that her son was burnt in a fire while playing at home and they brought him to CMCH for treatment 20 days ago because in Kambar emergency treatment facilities are unavailable.
