LAHORE - Inspector General of Police Punjab Javed Iqbal has dismissed a DSP from the service on the charges of misconduct and inefficiency on a citizen complaint. As per details, DSP Ghulam Akbar Sial, the then SDPO Factory Area, Faisalabad was placed under suspension on November 11, 2008 and a statement of allegations was issued to him by appointing Mubashar Ullah DIG/PTS, Lahore as Inquiry Officer. The inquiry officer probed the matter at length wherein ample opportunity of defence and cross-examination of the witnesses was provided to the accused officer. The EO held the police officer guilty of misconduct and recommended a strict disciplinary action against him. Therefore, as per prescribed procedure DSP was issued final show-cause notice and the DSP appeared in the orderly room of IGP held on March 11 and was heard in person. He (DSP) was given full opportunity to prove his innocence but he had nothing plausible to state except lame excuse on which the IGP Punjab awarded him major punishment of dismissal from service with immediate effect.
