Kaira rejects govt-judiciary clash talk

LAHORE While refuting the impression of any clash between the federal government and judiciary, PPP Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira has maintained that there is no issue if the SC-raised technical objection is removed. The Centre respects the Supreme Court judgment about chairman NAB, and that is why, it has immediately started its implementation, he added, while talking to media on Saturday at the residence of federal minister Samina Khalid Ghurki, where he had gone to condole her husbands death. To a query about Shahbaz Sharifs suggestion for involving army and judiciary in order to resolve issues confronting the nation, he mentioned that the government was in contact with army and judiciary, and after this, there was no need for this any more. The government has requested the PML-N leadership for suggestions, but it is yet to reply, he added. On the other hand, PPPs central leader Ch Aitzaz Ahsan had also dismissed Shahbaz Sharifs idea by arguing that the Constitution clearly outlined the roles of army and judiciary, which were functioning according to it. Only Shahbaz Sharif can reason out his suggestion. The judiciary must stay at distance, he maintained. About strike in Sindh against the disqualification of NAB chairman, he said that immediate reaction without reading detailed judgment was premature. Sharif brothers had also over-reacted on a court verdict in the past, and the country was still suffering from the consequences to some extent, he added.
