KARACHI - President Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated his resolve to pursue the policy of reconciliation, adding that meeting with PML-Q was part of this policy. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will always remain in a political mode and continue this policy. President Asif Ali Zardari, who is also the Co-Chairman of the PPP, was addressing the PPP MPAs of Sindh Assembly at the Bilawal House here on Saturday evening. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Speaker of Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza, PPP Parliamentary Party Leader in Sindh Assembly Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, and provincial ministers were also present on the occasion. We are a political force and we have to remain in a political mode, the President stressed. President Zardari, who arrived here from Islamabad to repair his partys estranged ties with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), which threatened to quit the PPP-led provincial government. He consulted his partys leaders about the concerns raised by the MQM over Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirzas support to peace committees in Lyari, sources said. The sources said that President Zardari would meet the MQM delegation today (Sunday). President Zardari urged the members of the assembly to interact with the people in their constituencies, listen to their problems and resolve their issues. He said that no political force could 100 per cent deliver on any front but efforts must always be undertaken. Zardari asked the members of the assembly to do the politics of public interest. He said that he would be in the city for two more days and would hold meetings separately regarding the work on agriculture, education and gas sectors. The President further said that he would call the business community also. He said that he wanted the political committees of the party be constituted to interact with the businessmen of Karachi to discuss their problems. The President said that they were following the political wisdom and taking the country in the right direction. He said, We do not believe in confrontation and that we are pursuing the politics of reconciliation. Zardari said, We are moving ahead in accordance with the vision and philosophy of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. He stated that the PPP had a history and an encyclopaedia to seek guidance from. The President said that the PPPs government was strengthening the foundation of the country and empowering its people and giving impetus to democracy and democratic forces. He said that the resources in the province of Sindh should be developed to benefit the people. Zardari said that the political parties in Sindh including the PPP, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Awami National party (ANP) and others should jointly realise that there was a greater scope of industrialisation in the province. He said, We believe in politics of reconciliation and will do politics in this very spirit. The President also reiterated that democracy was the best revenge. We do not believe in politics of confrontation and that we believe in peace. We are working to strengthen the country. He said that in the next general elections, the PPP would emerge as a victorious party in the Punjab. Zardari said that he had given his powers to the Parliament to strengthen the institutions. He was the first individual who voluntarily surrendered powers to the Parliament.
