MALAKAND - Speakers at a seminar titled “Equal Opportunities of Higher education to Women” have asked the community members to play their due role to educate the women equally, so that society development could be ensured.

The programme was arranged and organized by the Malakand Welfare Society (MWS), a local NGO in collaboration with the society Strengthening Participatory Organizations (SPO) here at union council Wartair, a far-flung area of Malakand. Sher Zaman Khan, Syed Abdullah, Fazal Hamed Khan, ex-nazim and ANP leader Musafar Khan, Malak Haji Zamin Khan, Feroz Shah and other political activists of different political parties, lawyers, and members of civil society organizations were among the speakers, who delivered the speeches on the occasion.

They said that the society needs highly qualified females in various departments and professions to serve the deserving community. They urged the community members to provide equal opportunities to women folks to get their due rights. The speakers discussed in detail the problems being faced by the women folk in their education and said that lack of interest of parents to provide the equal opportunities to Girls, lack of awareness on the part of parents in this regard, poverty, lack of educational facilities near their homes and families and some reluctant attitudes present among the men dominated the society are the basic hurdles in women education, especially in the higher education at university level.
