LAHORE - Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijazul Ahsan has said the societies which failed to give justice to the oppressed got eliminated from the earth, as told by the history.

“As such the judges are under heavy onus to save the society from being collapsed,” the chief justice said while speaking to a ceremony held to distribute laptops among the judicial officers of Punjab at Punjab Judicial Academy yesterday.

Justice Ahsan said that making the judiciary the best institution of the country should be the prime mission of the judges, and the mission needed to be accomplished with untiring efforts. He advised the judicial officers to discharge their responsibilities with honesty and dedication.

The CJ said the judges had been equipped with technology of the modern era to dispense justice among masses in a more effective manner. He added that the role of the judiciary was different from other institutions as it had to be resolve matters between public and the state.

More training courses would be held for the capacity building of the judicial officers at the judicial academy, said the CJ, adding that the officers showing good performance would be selected for foreign training courses.

MEETING: Separately, Justice Thomas Bergs of Northern Ireland called on Chief Justice Ijazul Ahsan and shared ideas for capacity building of judges especially of anti terrorism courts.
