E&T Dept to attach properties as last resort

The Excise and Taxation Department has announced to confiscate properties of more than 2,000 defaulters in Gujranwala Division.
E&T Gujranwala Division Director Rao Shakeelur Rehman has formed recovery teams for sealing the moveable and non-moveable properties of more than 2,000 chronic and big defaulters in Gujranwala Division.
Shakeelur Rehman added that the defaulters were reluctant to pay their pending arrears by using their political influence despite the repeated issuance of recovery and warning notices. He said that the E&T Department’s teams would start confiscating the properties of the above-mentioned accused through courts with the help of Revenue Department.
Likewise, the department in Gujranwala also decided to launch a campaign against property tax defaulters and to take other legal action to seal their properties.
This was disclosed by Excise and Taxation Officer Fizza Shah. She further said that according to the record there are about two thousands defaulters with millions of rupees, all of them have been entertained with a warning notice that if their dues will not be paid within a week, stern action would be taken against them.
GRANT RELEASED: The Punjab government has released a special grant of Rs270 million for the promotion of special education in Gujranwala Division, a government official disclosed.
MPA Ch Ikram talking to party workers said that the Punjab government would spend Rs270 million for promoting the quality education of special children at government education centres in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts.
