The eradication of polio is the government top priority and all individual should make efforts to eliminate the menace of crippling diseases from the country.

DCO Sulman Ghani expressed the views at the inauguration of anti-polio immunisation campaign here at DHQ Hospital on Saturday.

DPO Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, EDO Health Dr Masood Tariq, AC Mohammad Shah Rukh Niazi, DO Health Dr Nasir Islam Khan, anti-polio campaign focal person Dr Mohammad Khalid, DHQ Hospital MS Dr Shanaz Naseem, WHO representative Dr Fateh Azmat Ullah, DDO Health Dr Mohammad Nazeer Abdul Nasir Gohar were also attended the ceremony.

The DCO said that 582,109 children across the district would be vaccinated during the three days drive that would be formally launched on March 14.

He said the vaccination teams would visit door-to-door to cover each and every child. He said the teams would be accompanied by police for their security. He said it is important to cover every child. The DCO said 1,297 mobile teams would cover homes, bus stands and railway stations. He said that 15 teams would be deployed in bazaars.

Salman Ghani appealed to the civil society, social organisations and specially people of the district to play their effective role for putting end to polio to save the children crippling disease.

Later, the DCO and DPO visited emergency ward of DHQ Hospital, newly-built ward emergency block and morgue and reviewed the facilities being provided by the hospital administration.
