Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif became the newly elected Party President. No other candidate submitted their papers against the Chief Minister.

Jam packed with party workers and Central General Council Members, Convention Centre (Islamabad) was brimming with enthusiasm and passion. It seemed as if despite all the storms the party has been surviving, the zealous PML-N workers are more strengthened and united than ever. They seemed both politically and emotionally charged. The soul of the party, Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif gave his place to Mian Shahbaz Sharif. Given his services and his strength that binds the party together, it was an emotional moment for all of us; political workers and party leadership alike.

Considering the fact that Mian Shahbaz Sharif is the most competent and able person to lead the party in future, it must be reiterated that it is because of his governance and administrative abilities that made Punjab the most developed province of Pakistan. Mian Nawaz Sharif's nomination of CM Shahbaz as the next party president has been warmly welcomed by the party and workers. Given the superb energy of Shahbaz Sharif, new hope is inculcated in the party because they trust the leadership.

Under Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif's orchestration, added with President Shahbaz Sharif's insightful and calculated leadership, PML-N workers are believing it to be a new chapter, a new era for PML-N.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said in his speech that the whole world is witness to the fact that our leader Mian Nawaz has been targeted and that the day will soon come when justice will be served. This is something that echoes with the sentiments of every political worker in the party today; the party stands united and more empowered than ever. Addressing party workers and "millions who joined via television screens", Mian Nawaz Sharif said that the next elections should prove to be a referendum and the call was equivocally answered by the workers. The current political bubble that has seemingly produced an uncertain situation for PML-N is nothing short of being a huge metal bullet for the opposition in the next general elections. The message is clear and one that resonates very well with the general public.

Hamza Shahbaz driving Mian Nawaz Sharif from Punjab House to Convention Centre today, while Maryam Nawaz seated in the same car, gives a clear message that the family is even more united. It is rightfully believed, crisis and calamity sometimes bolster families like never before.
