MULTAN - Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Monday said that withdrawal of US General Hoods posting in Pakistan is a great achievement. Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who is also Sajjada Nasheen of Hazrat Shah Ruknud-din Alam while inaugurating the 3-day Urs ceremonies, said that the foreign ministry forcefully pleaded the case of the Pakistani nation and it truly expressed the aspirations of the people by rejecting General Hoods' appointment in Pakistan. He said General Hoods was involved in Guantanamo Bay incidents and the nation did not like his appointment here. The Foreign Minister said European Unions' Mr Sollana was told during his visit to Pakistan that blasphemous cartoons, write ups and movies had hurt the feelings of the sentiments of Muslim Ummah and  such acts ought to stop. He said although the Western media is totally free it should respect Muslims' sentiments as latter abide by the Western laws. The Foreign Minister said that during OIC Secretary General's visit to Islamabad, Pakistan stressed upon him to adopt a unanimous stand on such acts as hurting sentiments of Muslims  by the Western media and to get it stopped in future. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan's efforts resulted in condemnation of these  acts by European Parliamentarians and their governments disowned their Medias' of the religious rights of Muslims . He said governmental perks and offices bestowed upon us are the result of our reverence for our saints. He said if he is asked to opt either of the two he would prefer to adopt the path of Muslims' saint, who preached love, affection, tolerance and selfless service to fellow human-beings. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the shrines of holy saints have always been visited by   pilgrims who come from far-off places to pay homage and seek spiritual solace. He said at these mausoleums national solidarity which is direly needed, can be fully witnessed. People belonging to different places like Sindh, Balochistan and remote areas of Punjab and diverse communities and creeds get together here to derive spiritual satisfaction and guidance. He said, these  devotees will take the message of Hazrat Shah Ruknuddin Alam to their people. In fact, they are, true representatives of Pakistan. The Foreign Minister said the provincial minister for Auqaf, Ehsan ud Din Qureshi has got the opportunity to serve the pilgrims who have undertaken long journeys to participate in the auspices Urs celebrations. He stressed upon the Auqaf Ministry to further improve the arrangements to facilitate the devotees and make their stay more comfortable. He said 'Langar' (free meal) should also be improved. Earlier, Sajjada Nasheen Shah Mahmood Qureshi gave 'Ghussal' (bath) to mazar with rose water and laid a sheet at the mazar (Shrine). The Auqaf Department and district government have made elaborate arrangements for the three-day Urs ceremonies. Shade, fans and cold water have been provided to facilitate the pilgrims.
