LAHORE - Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran on Thursday inaugurated the largest three-day book fair of the country, being organised by the varsity administration, faculty and students in the main corridor of Institute of Education & Research, New Campus. Heads of various departments, faculty members, vice-chancellors of various universities, and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Like previous three years, the varsity administration, faculty and students are organising this book fair. The timing of this book fair is from 9am to 8pm with Friday prayer break from 1pm to 3pm. Later, the VC visited various book stalls and also purchased some books. Talking to media-men, he said the purpose of organising book fair was to provide quality books on discounted rates to students, teachers and the visitors at one place so that book-reading could be promoted among them. As many as 150 renowned publishers, book-sellers, IT companies and career-counseling centres have established their stalls and are selling local and foreign books with 10 to 50 percent discount. At some stalls, the publishers also distributed free-of-cost books to the visitors. On the first day, a large number of students, children, political, religious and social leaders, renowned journalists, doctors, lawyers and people from every segment of life visited the book fair. Earlier, Dr Amjad Saeed presented the article in an international conference organised by Business and Economics/Society International, USA and selected for publication in the journal.
