436 doctors to get degrees at CPSP convocation today

LAHORE The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistans 45th convocation, to be attended by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif as chief guest, will be held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal on Friday. Addressing a press conference, CPSP President Prof Zafarullah Chaudhry said the institution was unique in the sense that it was regularly holding convocations. Vice-President and Regional Director Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Prof Tipu Sultan and Prof Shireen Zulfiqar Bhutta were also present. Mr Zafarullah briefed the media on working and achievements of the CPSP and also answered to media persons queries. He said that degrees would be awarded to 338 fellows and 98 members completing studies in thirty different disciplines. He said that the CM would award medals to the position holders. Referring to the achievements of the CPSP, he said that the fellows of this prestigious medical institution were going to Saudi Arabia as visiting consultants for a period of three months with an emolument from SR 33,000 to SR 48,000. He said that even the Suadi embassy was delivering visas at the CPSP campus which was a great honour for the country and the institution. He said that these specialists would earn experience and return to the country to serve their countrymen. CPSP is the only institution amongst the developing countries to impose residency programme in medical education like developed countries.
