LAHORE A six-member team of Asian Development Bank led by its Country Director Rune Stroem called on Health Secretary Muhammad Jehanzeb Khan on Thursday. Prescribed service delivery standards with regard to mother and child health under millennium development goals 4 and 5 in the Punjab province were discussed during the meeting and proper utilization of funds provided by ADB for improving the mother and child health, enhancing the efficiency of district officers of health department, transparent checking of accounts and monitoring matters were reviewed in detail. Special Secretary Health Punjab Wasim Mukhtar, Director General Health Dr. Aslam Chaudhary and other officers were also present on the occasion. The meeting decided that after June 2011, third-party assessment with regard to fixed standards for mother and child health under millennium development goals would be conducted in 15 districts. Talking to delegation, Secretary Health Punjab Jehanzeb Khan said that proper and transparent utilization of funds being provided for improvement of health programmes would be ensured and no negligence would be tolerated in that regard.
