LAHORE The Punjab Assembly on Thursday unanimously demanded immediate payment of arrears from the Federal government. However, the amount was unspecified in the resolution under the head of the outstanding dues for year 2004-05 earned from the profit of electricity. It was also demanded that profits after this year should also be fixed and be paid to the provincial government so that the money could be used for development of the province. Opposition Leader Raja Riaz suggested that the Chief Minister should talk to PM Gilani for the release of payments instead of bringing resolutions. However, the House passed the resolution unanimously. Later, the House also passed the proposed amendments in the Rules of Procedures of the Punjab Assembly to change the procedure for the election of the CM. The main feature of the election for the CM is that there will be no show of hands for the election. Another story on Page 4
