KARACHI - State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) which had rich tradition of supporting sports since independence will organise its first Inter School T20 cricket tournament at its new grand cricket facility at North Nazimabad from May 14. The spokesman for the SBP Wasimuddin said eight top ranking teams of the KCCA have been invited to participate in eight-day competition which was aimed at promoting cricket at grass root level. Sports Committee of the SBP is organising the event, he said. Qasim Nawaz, Managing Director, SBP Banking Services Corporation will inaugurate the tournament, on May 14 at 09:30 a.m. City School will meet Kamran Public School in the opening match of the tournament at 10.00 A.M. The final is scheduled to be played on May 21 at 2.00 P.M. The SBP Sports Committee has decided to award various cash prizes for the best performers of the tournament. Besides trophies, the winner of the tournament will get a cash prize of Rs.20,000 while the runners up will be given Rs. 10,000. The prizes will also be awarded to the best performers.
