‘Local Govt Bill violation of Constitution’



PESHAWAR – General Secretary Local Council Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Israr-u-llah advocate has said that the passage of local government bill 2012 from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly is the violation of article 140-A of the constitution and tantamount to weakening the local government systems in the province.     
In a press release issued here on Saturday, he said that the indirect appointment of chairman and vice chairman for union council was aimed to get strength in the upcoming local bodies’ election and increase its vote bank. He said that he would soon meet with former nazim, naib nazim and councilor to come united and launch a movement against this illegal appointment of Chairman and vice chairman for UC level.
He added that in all over the world the local government system taking roots and getting strength but in case of Pakistan the corrupt leaders were using it as per their wishes and gaining political objectives.
He said that it is visible that provincial government has no vision regarding the local government system, as they have still not implemented their former decisions regarding local government system.
He warned that if the provincial government did not restore the local government system as per the wishes of the masses, then they are ready to come on roads and launch a movement.
