ISLAMABAD – Concerned about the severe power outages in the country and resultant extreme problems being faced by the general public, Chairman of the Ansar Burney Trust International, Ansar Burney demanded that loadshedding and power conservation should also be immediately implemented in Ministers Enclaves throughout the country.
Talking to the media here, Ansar expressed dismay at the government’s attitude of indifference to the people’s problems despite protests across the country, and believed that the only steps, which may force those in power to take action, would be to face the problems themselves.
Burney stated that whilst schools, businesses, hospitals and homes throughout the country faced up to 18 hours of power outages due to load shedding, homes in the ministers enclaves, Prime Minister house and secretariat, parliament and President house suffered no such problems; as a result of which elected representatives of the people have no idea of the suffering these outages were causing and seem unconcerned to finding a solution.
Burney demanded that preferential treatment for those in power be curtailed so that they face the same problems as the common people of Pakistan and be concerned about finding solutions; and if an immediate solution cannot be found, then at least the problems be shared to give the common man a sense of connection to those who claim to represent them. He expressed hope that action will be implemented before the entire nation heads out into the streets because our leaders do not understand our problems.
