MULTAN - The property tax squad of Excise and Taxation Department has launched a crackdown on defaulters and sealed 200 roperties during a drive to recover government dues. The properties are sealed in walled city areas including Inside Lohari Gate, Alang Bazaar, Hussain Agahi, Andhi Khuoi, Pak Gate and Bohar Gate. Excise sources disclosed that the defaulters have to pay amount worth over Rs. 1.8 million and most of the defaulters are not paying their property tax for the last eight to 10 years. Meanwhile, the Director Excise Multan Jam Siraj Ahmad hurled a warning to the recovery staff to ensure 100 per cent recovery of government dues from the defaulters. He added that the sealed properties would not be unsealed until the dues were paid.

BISP completes poverty survey: The teams deployed by the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) have completed poverty survey and the data of 2.66 lac deserving families is handed over to Nadra for provision of smart cards.

The poverty survey was launched in Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa and adjoining tribal areas. Sources disclosed that the issuance of cards would start by the end of May and this process would be completed till mid June.

Sources added that these cards would be used at ATM machines of all banks to draw the cash.
