LAHORE – Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Ahad Khan Cheema has ordered fresh inquiry against eight officers of the Engineering Wing of the Authority and appointed Mariam Kayani, additional director general (headquarters), as inquiry officer to proceed against the accused officials.
An inquiry against these officers had already been completed by LDA Ex-Additional Director General (HQ) Ehsanul Haque and its report has been submitted to the competent authority.
According to a press release issued here on Saturday, the competent authority feels that the inquiry report did not properly address the aspects of financial irregularities committed during the construction of One Window Hall in MA Johar Town.  Therefore, it is necessary to hold a fresh inquiry against Chaudhry Abdur Rab, ex-chief engineer; Muhammad Saeed Akhter, director buildings; Muhammad Ijaz Kousar, deputy director buildings; Assad Abbas Jaffery, director EME; Tahir Shabbir Balouch, assistant director buildings; Ikramur Rehman, assistant director (electrical); Ihsan Elahi, sub-engineer; and Waseem Gouri, sub-engineer (electrical).
Moreover, Cheema has imposed minor penalty of withdrawal of two per cent of pension on Abdul Rab, ex-chief engineer.
Cheema also imposed minor penalty of ‘censure’ on Muhammad Ijaz, director ADS; Malik Mushtaq, director ADS; Rasheed Naeem, deputy director ADS; Kashif Durrani, assistant director; and Mehmood Akhter, sub-engineer and exonerated all the officers of charges of financial / procedural irregularities in respect of reconstruction of bridge on Cantt Drain in Gulshan-e-Ravi.
 Drive against profiteers: On the directions of DCO Lahore, a campaign against profiteers has been expedited in the provincial metropolis. During the past two days, price control magistrates checked 706 shops, registered 27 cases against profiteers, arrested 32 profiteers and imposed an overall fine of Rs. 2.l million on them.
