KARACHI - Despite all the tall claims, KESC has failed to provide electricity to Karachi without interruption. The people of the city faced many hours of load shedding during the scorching heat on Saturday.Unannounced and unexpected outages badly affect life in Karachi but specially the participant sitting for intermediate exams. KESC at different times, including various press statements, claimed that the utility companies are not carrying out unannounced load-shedding in any part of Karachi and the company also claimed only 6 hours load-shedding in most areas. In contradiction to KESC claims, residents of various parts of Karachi every day have staged protests for last 20 days against unannounced drastic power outages from KESC.Most of the city areas continued facing severe outages. The residents of North Karachi, Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Federal B Area, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Defence, Orangi, Jacob Line, Lyari, Surjani Town, Kharadar and other areas were the most affected as they faced unannounced power outages for hours.However, a violent protest witnessed on Saturday noon near Hadi Market at Nazimabad area where angry resident of the area come out of their homes and started protest against 10 to 12 hours unannounced power suspension in their area. The protestors burnt tyres and other stuff on roads they also pelted stones on shops and parked vehicles, many of which were damaged, the angry people were trying to attack the nearest KESC complain office but heavy contingent of police rushed to the spot and after a baton charge on the protestors the crowd was disperse.Similarly, a number of residents of Liaqutabad stage protest at No 10 Liaqutabab against the utility companies. The protestors said that they faced 10 to 12 hours load-shedding in hot weather, they were also facing water shortage because of suspend the power supply. The people demanded the provincial and federal government to take strong action.
