Paramedics observe black day, stage sit-in


LAHORE – Paramedics observed black day at public sector hospitals across the province including the City on Saturday to press for the demands of revised service structure, health professional allowance and regularization of contract employees. Paramedics protest and sit in at public sector hospitals in the province and outside Punjab Institute of Cardiology Lahore disturbed working at OPDs, adding to the miseries of visiting patients. Paramedics sit in outside PIC also disturbed normal vehicular movement at Jail Road and adjoining arteries.
Addressing the participants outside PIC, Paramedics Association leaders Malik Munir Ahmed, Rehmat Sandhu, Yousaf Billa, Anis-ur-Rehman, Arshad Butt, Mian Khalid, Rana Abdul Malik, Khalid Mughal, Hafiz Dilawar and others reminded Punjab Chief Minister of his promise made with the paramedics on May 12, 2011. They said that the CM has not honoured his commitment that has forced paramedics to resort to protests and sit in. They vowed to start second round of protest in coming week that would end only after acceptance of all demands.
