RAWALPINDI – Two butchers were arrested here on Saturday for selling unhygienic meat and 650 kilograms unhealthy meat was also recovered from their custody.

According to details, General Manager Slaughter House, Rawalpindi-Islamabad, Dr Hanif Muhammad Azmat Ullah along with Assistant Manager, Dr Javed Muneer and other staff on Saturday conducted a special raids in the city markets to check quality of meat and recovered 300-kilogram unhealthy and unhygienic meat from a shop at Double road.

The butcher namely Muhammad Ishfaq son of Jameel was arrested and handed over to New Town police. In another raid conducted in Dhoke Chaudharian are in the jurisdiction of Airport Police Station, a butcher identified as Javed was also arrested on recovery of 350 kg unhygienic meat.

According to detail, special campaign is being run against the sale of unhealthy and unhygienic meat on the special orders of District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saqib Zafar.

The butchers were challaned and arrested on selling unhealthy meat, which they had brought from other cities. FIRs in this connection have also been registered in the respective police station. Dr Azmat Ullah has warned the butchers that strict action in accordance with the law would be taken against those who would be found violating the rules.

It is pertinent to mention here that the sale of unhealthy meat is on the rise in the city and now on the citizens’ demand, action is being taken against the violators of the rules.
